Workpackage 3: Digital Humanities research and engineering

DM2E Workpackage 3 is researching the scholarly practices in the humanities as well building the tools that respond to the needs of scholars. Watch the video below to learn more about how DM2E tools support and enhance traditional scholarly practices and methods:

###Pundit and Ask

The two tools at the heart of the DM2E scholarly environment are Pundit and Ask. Pundit is a semantic annotation tool that enables researchers to create annotations in Linked Open Data. Ask is a web service that enables people to create and query notebooks based on annotations made in Pundit.

###Try Pundit and Ask yourself

A version of both Pundit and Ask are available for you to try with your own content:

* Italian tutorial (PDF)
* Norwegian tutorial (PDF)

###Technical documentation

Pundit is fully open source, the code and documentation can is hosted on [Github](https://github.com/net7/pundit). Fork away!

###Research into the scholarly domain model

The research focus on DM2E is modelling of the scholarly domain, closely related to the user requirements gathering exercises that underpin the development of the DM2E Digital Humanities tools. Professor Stefan Gradmann has been leading the research into the scholarly domain building on the work of John Unsworth and others.

###A distinguished Advisory Board

The Digital Humanities research component is supported by a distinguished Advisory Board. An overview of the Digital Humanities Advisory Board members is available from this page.
